Evening Meeting - Blue Plaques of South Oxfordshire

Marie-Louise Kerr, local historian and "Curator Without Museum", will tell us about famous (and infamous) local people and the stories behind those blue plaques.

Group Visit to the BMW MINI Plant in Oxford

Tuesday 21 May 2024 - 9.30 for 9.50 am at the MINI Plant Oxford, Cowley, Oxford OX4

We have arranged for the morning of Tuesday 21st May an ADTTS group visit to the BMW factory in Oxford where the Mini car is made. The cost is £20 per person and we shall have our own guide. We shall need to get to the visitor centre for 9.30 am. Places on the tour will be allocated to the first 15 to apply. The tour takes ninety minutes.

D-Day Commemorations

Argentan is expected to invite some members to attend the commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Church Twinning Weekend

20 - 24 June 2024

Visitors from our twin towns Argentan, Schongau and Sint-Niklaas have been invited by the Church in Abingdon Twinning Group for a long weekend (20 - 24 June 2024) to attend Abingdon's Passion Play on Saturday 22 June. We expect more visitors than usual to attend so we are seeking host families to accommodate them. Annual Garden Party

Treasure Hunt

We plan a treasure hunt in cars around south Oxfordshire, searching for blue plaques, with supper at the end.

Canoe/Cycle Camping in Argentan

30 July - 4 August 2024

Up to 14 participants will go to Argentan and join French teenagers to explore the Argentan area by bike and canoe camping.

Canoe Camping along the Thames

29 August - 3 September 2024

In a return visit, the French come over to Abingdon for a camping trip by bike and canoe down the Thames to Clifton Hampden and Wallingford.

Sint-Niklaas Twinning Weekend

Thursday 5 September to Monday 9 September 2024

Sint-Niklaas Twinning (VZW DE VERZUSTERING) invite four people from each of their twin towns to participate in a twinning weekend. This will take place from Thursday September 5 (arrival) to Monday September 9 (departure).

As always, the program is somewhat linked to the Peace Festival (balloon festival) that takes place at the same time. This year the theme is ART AND PARKS. See the May Newsletter for the outline programme. The registration deadline is 2nd June.
